Demand the End of Censorship!

When the Pacifica fund drive started, Democracy Now! was pre-empted at WBAI in New York without any warning to host Amy Goodman and without any explanation to the listeners. The same thing happened at KPFK in Los Angeles, where management ran old tapes of the show but broadcast a short message falsely claiming that Amy had refused to fundraise. This is an obvious lie since the show continued to be broadcast at the three other Pacifica stations -- and at two of them, Berkeley's KPFA and Washington's WPFW, Amy did fundraise.

WBAI and KPFK managers are afraid that Democracy Now! might report on something that may challenge the rosy picture of Pacifica that they're trying to paint during this Spring fund-drive, i.e., like last week's Congressional hearings on the Pacifica crisis before the Progressive Caucus.

But there is more. This is also an attempt to permanently cancel Democracy Now! We must not rest until Amy and Democracy Now! return in full to KPFK and WBAI.

Protest Pacifica management's harassment and censorship of Amy Goodman and Democracy Now! and demand that the editorial integrity of the program be respected. Call for Democracy Now! to be played in full, every day. Ask for the real deal, no fakes and no frauds. That day's version of Democracy Now! only.
