6/6/01-Informal Grievance-
On June 6, 01 I declared a medical emergency because on May 10, 01 during an appointment with Dr. Nazareno, he told me he would order a blood test for diabetes. I met with nurse, Gangi, on June 6, 2001. She spoke with Dr. Nazareno, he spoke with Dr. Nazareno over the phone and told me that he said that I'll get tested four months from now.
Frequently, the tops of my feet and toes burn like they are on fire or feel like they're being painfully pricked by needles. Also, my ankles get painfully swollen. Diabetes is a serious disease that causes multiple health risks, commonly resulting in amputations. Making me wait four months for a blood test is not "reasonably adequate," and amounts to deliberate indifference under the Eighth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. They can be remedied by testing me for diabetes immediately. E. Lopez #094666
