Why Pan Am 103?

By Arlene Johnson
This story is history; it's just incorporated into a true story because of the circumstances in which I became aware of the truth. Pierre Salinger, in his copyrighted 2000 article in The Georgetowner entitled "Lockerbie Defendants Are Innocent" tells the truth too although he had the year incorrectly stated as 1988 instead of the correct year which was 1987.

To fully understand why Pan Am 103 was blown up over Lockerbie, Scotland, one must journey back to July 3, 1987 over the Persian Gulf. I had just graduated from UCLA on June 20, 1987 so the memory is as fresh today as it was then because Ali and I were together. A naval submarine for the United States deliberately blew up an Iranian air bus carrying tourists from Iran to Kuwait that summer day. Every American was told that the submarine "thought" the air bus was going to attack them so they blew it up in defense when Ali and I knew differently.

Ali had been a student majoring in electrical engineering at UCLA who had been given superb grades. He had, in fact, been accepted to graduate school at UCLA because he was so excellent in his studies. He taught me that the radar screen easily determines the type of airplane it surveys. Therefore, what the Canadian press, Western European press, Argentinean press, Australian press at least said was true. What the American press published was false.

Why would the US military blow up this passenger jet with 290 people on board? Ronald Reagan wished to end the Iran/Iraq War. He had, in fact, made comments to that effect so it was logical but why murder innocent people? He wanted to intimidate the Ayatollah Khomeini into submission to force him to end that war. The goal of the war had been achieved and the billions of dollars were earned by the elite so there was no further need for that war.

No apology was extended to the Iranian people for these murders. Therein, lies the problem. As one who is extremely aware of the culture of these people, when no apology is extended for a misdeed, they retaliate. Mr. Salinger indicated the same.

And so it was on December 21, 1988, that Iran struck the American people. The CIA knew that it would happen so they didn't board that flight to return home for the holidays but students returning from studies abroad did. Two hundred and fifty nine people in the plane died and eleven on the ground in Lockerbie, Scotland did. Some would say tit for tat. They would be correct because it was nearly identical to the number on the Iranian air bus simply because the United States didn't apologize.

Because the United States government couldn't have the American people know that Khomeini was supported by the CIA thereby making him our dictator, another deceit was told the American people. Libya was blamed.

I theorize that Libya was the scapegoat for this because of the action taken by Muammar Qaddafi against Occidental Petroleum which certainly would feel alienated because of his action to freeze oil production in order to raise the price of Libya's oil. (See True Democracy 1st edition article entitled, "The Trilateral Commission's Effect on the Middle East" for details on that situation.)

Therefore, the defendants who represented Libya, were innocent but sentenced to prison terms while the real killers, the American Navy and Iranian sponsored retaliators are free.

FREE THE LIBYAN DEFENDANTS AND ALLOW THEIR RECORDS TO BE EXPUNGED AND PROSECUTE THE PLANNERS OF THE ATROCITY INSTEAD. ALLOW VICTIMS' FAMILIES TO SUE THE US GOVERNMENT.
