This is from where we obtain the Edomites.

Pastor James wrote the following so as to provide explanation between the Edomites and Canaanites:

"Essentially, the Edomites are one and the same with the Canaanites. Their name was simply changed from Canaan to Edom when Esau, contrary to the Law of God, intermarried with the Hittites, the very people that God had condemned to extermination. Esau, Jacob's brother, was, therefore, a traitor to the will of Yahweh, [God's name is Yahweh] who had cast the fallen angels down to earth for judgment. The name of Edom therefore became synonymous with 'traitor'."

Gen. 27:1 "And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him. My son: and he said unto him, Behold, here am I.

Gen. 27:2 "And he said, Behold now, I am old. I know not the day of my death:"

Gen. 27:3 "Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison:"

This is the definitive sentence in this entire dialogue; Israel is a man whose previous name was Jacob, the second born son who the Bible states in Gen. 25:23 "...the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder, which was Esau, shall serve the younger."

Gen. 35:10 "And God said unto him [Jacob], Thy name is Jacob: they name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel."
